Robert E. James, 91

Robert E. James was born to H. Franklin James and Lena Martin on November 13, 1932, in Carlsbad, NM. Robert attended school in Carlsbad. Robert worked as a Rancher, on the Ranch he grew up on, transitioning to co-owner along with his brother Charlie, and eventually retired from Mosaic Potash. Robert met Geraldine Brown, from Salem, NM in El Paso, Texas, and they married in 1977, in Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his infant son Patrick D. James and his siblings Charlie James, Gloria Kelly, and Alice Eubanks. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Geraldine (Gerri) James and his three children Joseph P. James (Mary), Jennifer C. (James) Medlin, Christian P. James and stepson Dwain A. Tarango (Lorinda). He had six grandchildren Patrick James (deceased), Quinn James, Catlin James, Melissa Medlin, Allison Medlin, Samantha Torres and four step-grandchildren Joseph Tarango (deceased), Tristan Tarango, Reagan Tarango and Laci Tarango. He is also survived by his stepson Todd E. Gregory (Patrizia) and two step-grandsons Barron E. Gregory and Ethan A. Gregory. Robert and Geraldine moved to Las Cruces, where they lived for many years. He passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024, in Las Cruces, surrounded by family and his beloved pet Dolly. Per his immediate family’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on a later date in Hatch, NM, for family and close friends.
