Senior Olympics honors athletes

Posted

Doña Ana County Senior Olympics is marking its 45th year, and at a Sept. 14 board meeting the organization honored athletes who had participated and distinguished themselves while promoting healthy physical activity and association among the community’s older citizens, from the 50s on up.

The group bestowed its annual Dee Harris award, presented to one male and one female athlete each year for outstanding contributions to the quality of life of the county’s senior citizens, to Jayne Milavec and Paul Fetterhoff.

Fetterhoff was honored for his service to local organizations including the Doña Ana County Search and Rescue, Mesilla Valley Habitat for Humanity and the local and state senior games.

Milavec is a registered nurse at Memorial Medical Center and a board member of the local Senior Olympics since 2015.
